...Talk about terrorism being a threat to the United States;
we're looking at an epidemic of Lyme and other tick-bourne
diseases here, and that is the worst threat imaginable...
"
Dr. Richard Horowitz

A Satirical Open Letter from Virginia T. Sherr
In Response To A Newsarticle In The Philadelphia Inquirer

"One by one, her family took the antibody and DNA tests that can
detect the presence of Lyme disease. All were diagnosed with the illness.

Quote from an article 8-7-04 by Philadelphia Inquirer reporter, Virginia Smith

Mr. Bin Laden,

Here is some good news! Time to relax! You can cease and desist. You can save your ammo, no longer having to stockpile explosives. You can stop sacrificing your young men and women as martyrs to Allah for your Cause. You now can win without another bus bomb or car explosive. Just be patient - the clock is ticking in your favor.

Why such a fortunate turn of events for you, just when the world was beginning to think your side had more sadists than your enemies had? Well, now, the U.S. Government and its agencies have indirectly arranged for you to walk right in here and take over some day. It may be hard for you to believe this but by not effectively addressing this country's immense epidemic of Lyme disease and its co-infections that are costing us a generation of our country's best, brightest, healthiest, young people, there will be no one left to fight you - this country will be yours.

While infected ticks are busy sucking the strength out of our people, our Government has stood by ineffectively, encouraging it all by not publicly condemning misleading methods of diagnosing the disease and the epidemic. Of course, they do mention that there are 23,763 cases per year, and "maybe 10 times that," implying that there are, indeed, very likely at least a quarter million new cases per year yet the Government sounds no loud alarms. No sirens blasting to keep young people out of woods and grass! A handover to you folks is easy to foresee when one considers the neurologic, cerebrum-crippling (MS-like or psychiatric-like) downstream effects of this brain disease.

No, this plum of a country will be yours - just be patient as our people fall - one by one, dropping quietly, like leaves, or shooting themselves or others to death in a futile effort to avoid the pain and craziness of this encephalitis-promoting infection. Just wait - no need to hurry. Tick-borne diseases are all around us and have been active here for the previous decades--very visible to those who know how to diagnose them. But, our children are naked, information-wise, and passively helpless.

A word to the wise-when you walk into our countryside, you can leave your weapons at home but bring along your anti-tick, permethrin spray cans and avoid the brush. Otherwise, your moment of power and victory will also fall to an almighty spirochete more powerful than any sword. Regretfully,
